Garry Girdler 1953 - 2013
It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Garry Girdler - long time Throws coach with Coqutilam Cheetahs.
GIRDLER, Garry 60, of Port Coquitlam, BC, passed away on at home May 1 after a brief and courageous battle with colon cancer. In accordance with Garry's wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Canadian Cancer Society. Garry was born in Dover, England on April 26, 1953. Garry married Carol Burge on November 29, 1974. They lived in Brazil for two years before moving to Canada and were happily married for 38 years; together they had three daughters. Garry worked his way up to Head of Electrical for the Vancouver Parks Board and was there for 26 years. He retired in 2008 and travelled the world with Carol and together they had many trips of a lifetime. Garry was very involved in the sports community – one of his crowning achievements was scoring goals in soccer on three different continents. He also volunteered with the Coquitlam Cheetahs as a throws coach for 15 years. Garry was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend. He is survived by his father, Cyril, his wife, Carol, and daughters, Lauren, Brianna and Heather, and his siblings, Jackie and Nick. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Canadian Cancer Society.
