Board of Directors - Elections
The following board position descriptions were approved at the January 1999 Extraordinary General Meeting.
Nominations received will be posted with a brief bio provided by those standing for election.
Elections will take place on Saturday, August 20, 2022 during the AGM meetings with the exception of the Zone Director positions which will be decided in Zone Caucus meetings and the Athlete Directors who are voted on by members of the BC Junior and Senior teams from 2021 and 2022.
Athlete Director nominations must be recveived no later than June 30, 2022. Elegible athletes will vote on the Athlete Director nominations from July 1, 2022 to July 31, 2022 and the results will be announced at the AGM on August 20, 2022.
BOARD ELECTIONS NOMINATION FORM
Chair Board of Directors
2 year term
Incumbent - Greg White
Nominees:
Working with B.C. Athletics staff, volunteers and individuals under contract to B.C. Athletics, the Board Chair shall:
- Call, prepare the Agenda for, and preside over all General, Board of Directors and Executive Committee Meetings.
- Represent the Association in an official capacity to the public.
- Be responsible for providing guidance and direction to the Directors of the Association.
- Be responsible for the operation of the Annual General Meeting and Discipline Committees and others as may be deemed expedient from time to time.
- Ensure that an Annual Review of the Association’s performance and progress is presented at the Annual General Meeting.
- Be one of the signing officers of the Association.
- Sit, without voting privileges, as an ex-officio member on all Association Committees.
Director of Finance
2 year term
Incumbent - Ota Hally

Working with B.C. Athletics staff, volunteers and individuals under contract to B.C. Athletics, the Director Finance shall:
- Be responsible for the Association’s funds and securities.
- Ensure the keeping of full and accurate accounts for the Association.
- Oversee the disbursement of funds of the Association.
- Ensure the preparation of a financial statement for the Directors’ meetings.
- Perform such other duties as directed by the Directors from time to time.
- Coordinate the dealings of the Association with their appointed Auditors.
- Be responsible for the preparation of the Association’s annual budget.
- Be one of the signing officers of the Association.
- Sit as a member of the Executive Committee.
Director Administration & Planning

Nominees:
Working with B.C. Athletics staff, volunteers and individuals under contract to B.C. Athletics, the Director Administration & Planning shall:
- Ensure that minutes of all meetings of the Association and the Board of Directors are kept, that the Association’s records are secured, and that all reports as required by the Society Act are produced in a timely manner.
- Be responsible for the development of the Association’s human resource needs and operations.
- Oversee the management of the Association’s membership program.
- Ensure the compilation of B.C. Athletics statistics and statistical reports.
- Supervise the orderly development, effective operation and, as required, modification of the B.C. Athletics office electronic communications systems and equipment.
- Sit as a member of the Executive Committee.
- Be responsible for the implementation of and reporting upon the current strategic plan.
- Ensure that there is an orderly and timely development of a successor strategic plan.
Director Marketing & Communications
2 year term
Incumbent - Newton Hoang
Nominees: Newton Hoang
Working with B.C. Athletics staff, volunteers and individuals under contract to B.C. Athletics, the Director Marketing and Communications shall:
- Be responsible for the development of the Association’s marketing strategy, including all aspects of fund raising, securing of sponsorships, the promotion and marketing of properties, competitions, merchandise, etc.
- Establish and supervise the development of an effective Marketing Committee.
- Assist in the development of a Business Plan for the Association.
- Ensure the effective operation of the Alumni Association.
- Oversee the Awards and Recognition unit operations.
- Sit as a member of the Executive Committee.
- Ensure the orderly production of the communication vehicles of the Association, including the B.C. Athletics Bulletin (electronic), Calendar of Events, and any other regular or special mailings.
- Be responsible for an effective public relations function for the Association.
Director Programs & Technical Development

Incumbent - Tyler Heisterman

Working with B.C. Athletics staff, volunteers and individuals under contract to B.C. Athletics, the Director of Programs and Technical Development shall:
- Ensure, in cooperation with the appointed Chairpersons, the effective operation of the Road Running, Cross Country and Track & Field Divisions.
- Ensure, through liaison with the appointed Chairpersons, the effective operation of the program delivery committees.
- Establish and maintain close liaison with those members of the B.C. Athletics staff specifically responsible for program coordination and delivery.
- Sit as a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors.
- Ensure, through liaison with the appointed Chairpersons, the continued development of the Coaching and Officials Training Programs of C. Athletics.

Working with B.C. Athletics staff, volunteers and individuals under contract to B.C. Athletics, the Zone Directors shall:
- Initiate, where necessary, and attend meetings with zone clubs/associations.
- Assist zone clubs/associations to better understand the aims/directions of the Association.
- Prepare Zone Reports for presentation to meetings of the Board Prepare an annual Zone Report for presentation at the Annual General Meeting.
- Carry out other responsibilities as may be required from time to time.

Athlete Director Nomination Form
Athlete Director (Para) - 2 year term - Currenlty Vacant
Athlete Director (Male AB) - 1 year term - Currently Vacant
Athletes recognized by the Society as having been on a B.C. Senior or U20 (ages 18/19) Team within the past two years (the "BC Senior or U20 Team Athletes") shall put forth three Athlete Directors,
- a minimum of one of each gender,
- a minimum of one para-athlete and
- one able-bodied athlete
- Who are a member of and nominated by the group of athletes who are 18 years of age or older and who have been nominated (or selected by BC Athletics to a Provincial Team in any discipline in the previous two years (calculated from the date of the beginning of the new membership year - Jan 1st).
- The Society will coordinate such nomination process in its discretion such that the Society will be notified of the names of the three nominees by the time of the Zone caucuses held in conjunctioon with the AGM. If the BC Senior or U20 Team Athletes fail to put forth three (3) nominees or if any of the nominees are unwilling to be elected as an Athlete Director at the time of the Zone Caucuses held in conjunction with the AGM, the voting members present at the AGM shall select the remaining number of Athlete Directors for the one (1) year term from names submitted by voting members at the AGM.
NOTE: Athlete Directors will be nominated by members of the 2021 and 2022 BC Senior and BC Junior Track & Field, Cross Country and Road Running Teams. Athletes nominated must have been selected to BC Senior or U20 Teams in 2021 or 2022 to be considered. Names submitted through this form will be forwarded to the above mentioned BC Team members to be voted on. The results of said vote will be brought to the BC Athletics AGM to be formally voted on.
