Chris Winter Joins BC Athletics Staff
Burnaby, BC - December 31, 2016
For Immediate Release
BC Athletics is very pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Winter to the position of Track & Field Technical Manager. In accepting this position, Chris will have the responsibility to manage and lead, together with BC Athletics Committees, Clubs, Coaches and Supporting Agencies, the ongoing development of Track & Field in British Columbia.
Chris comes to this position following a very extensive and successful Track & Field career that had its origin in North Vancouver with the NorWesters Track & Field Club and culminated as a member of Canada’s 2016 Rio Olympic Games Team where he competed in the 3000m Steeplechase.
“This is a great opportunity and a position that I am excited to take on,” said Chris in accepting the position. “My retirement from competitive Athletics was not a move away from the sport but rather to pursue an opportunity in a new role in Athletics where I can refocus my passion and experience for a sport that has given me so much,” concluded Winter.
“We are very pleased that Chris will be joining the BC Athletics staff. His extensive experience in Athletics – at all levels of the sport – will be of great value to all of us,” said Greg White, Chair, BC Athletics Board of Directors.
“To have Chris take on this role is terrific,” said Brian McCalder, BC Athletics President/CEO. “Knowing Chris for most of his competitive career and seeing him achieve his Olympic dream gives me every confidence that he will take on this role with the same dedication and commitment,” McCalder concluded.
Chris takes up the reigns of this position on January 3rd, 2017. So please join us in welcoming him at: chris.winter@bcathletics.org
